Wind.
The wind takes
on a character unlike any other, acquiring a variety of names as it swirls
through a whirlwind of moods. Its personification brings it to life, either as
a gentle giant or a swirling storm.
From day to day
it changes form, which casts a surprise to anything in its way. It can come in as
a light breeze one gladly welcomes on a sweltering summer’s day. The next day
it harnesses a gust of power strong enough to rip trees out of the ground by
their very roots. How vast is the range of this power that can’t be seen, but
can only be felt?
While there are
devastations that come at the hands of a brutal wind, there are also plenty of
joys that can result from a windy day.
One of these
delights is the orchestra of wind chimes that come to life in the midst of an
oncoming breeze. An original musical composition is created each time a wind
whirls through the hanging instrument. There’s a beauty that swiftly passes by
as chiming refrains float along with it. Nothing else spurs on this impromptu chorus,
but the movement of the air whirling outside. While it sneaks through
undetected by sight, it leaves behind a sweet melody to make its appearance
known.
The wind is one of those mysteries of nature that leaves an effect on everything it touches. At times it comes in with a firm authority, at times is comes as a passive wave. In the midst of each great natural power, there is an opportunity to notice the little things. The little joys of watching trees dance in the wind, enjoying a breeze against your face, and experiencing a silent night graced with the sound of wind chimes.
